Abandoned textile factory of Sjuntorp
Together with photography interested friends from the instagram group #igerstrollhattan we went to the beautiful abandoned textile factory in Sjuntorp with the knowledgeable Stig Hellström as our guide. The industry once were one of the largest employers in Sweden and only stopped once, and that was due to the north american civil war. The spherical ball bearing was developed here (in order to make the looms stand still as the whole factory was shaking from them) and SKF and eventually VOLVO was emerged from this invention. A victim of recession in the textile industries and globalization it was finally closed and abandoned in 1986 now a home for crows and mice. I could spend many days exploring this place.
